Our Story
Kokonut began as a humble dream in late 2023. At first, we only wanted to resell the brand surpluses catering to plus-size women. Why plus size? Because that’s the world Nitika(one of our founders) knows well, being a plus-size woman herself. We walked the path of limited choices, where finding stylish, comfortable clothes that fit well felt like a constant challenge. So, the idea behind Kokonut was simple: provide plus-size women with the fashion options they deserve.
But as we grew, something became clear—while the demand for plus-size clothing was huge, the options were slim. We would get excited about a new piece only to find it was a single size, leaving many women disappointed. We realised that simply reselling wasn’t enough. There was a gap in the market for beautifully designed, size-inclusive clothing, and that’s when our mission truly began to take shape.
In February 2024, we took a leap of faith and ordered 100 Rib Knit Tops—our very first original design. It was risky; we had no experience in creating our own clothing line. We did not know how things really work. But the moment we launched, we sold 80% of those tops within two hours! By the end of the day, they were completely sold out. This was our turning point. Kokonut was no longer just a surplus store; it was transforming into a brand with a purpose.
Of course, the road wasn’t always smooth. We faced setbacks, like the time a manufacturer ruined an entire batch of 150 T-shirts. We wondered how we could recover from such a blow. But the support of our community and the passion for what we were building kept us moving forward.
Fast forward to today, Kokonut has grown into a community of over 10,000 women from across India. Our mission is to ensure every plus-size woman feels confident, beautiful, and seen. Because fashion is for everyone, and we all deserve to feel good—no matter what size we are.
